My school did Trig and Algebra II together as well. I was under the same assumption as Spidey was. I thought the trig part was the funky sin waves and such on the map that used equations similar to what Spidey stated.

My school had Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Trig, Calc, and Calc II all as separate courses.

I assume we're talking high school...

I guess mine had the same thing, but I did take honors classes throughout it all so my progression was Honors Geometry, Honors Algebra II/Trig, can't remember in 11th grade, and Calculus (I assume I and II - it was only offered to seniors in honors anyway).

Modus Pownens - love the sig. I see the problem, though. It should be 'asleep' (a variable) instead of 'asleep()' (a subroutine). No wonder he can't fall asleep. Change that and he'll be sleeping like a baby, no more need to cuss :D

Personally, I've never heard of "rasta", but my wife assures me that it has something to do with smoking weed. I'm going to ignore the obvious questions that raises and just move on from that one.

I just wanted to mention that both DarthFerret and EricBess are wrong on the May 9th puzzle.

Hint for those who want it: One of the words is a proper noun.

Since when is a proper noun a "common English word"?

Knowing that, it's easy. I rejected that right off because of the proper noun.
Queer
Quest
Qatar (the proper noun)
Queen

And my wife still insists that "Rasta" is also a correct answer :D

Supply the missing number.

3 + 4 + 7 --> 5

9 + 2 + 4 --> 6

1 + 4 + 5 --> 1

9 + 6 + 7 --> ?

Answer:
4. Add the numbers to get a two-digit number. Add the digits to get the final result. 9 + 6 + 7 = 22. 2 + 2 = 4.

You have three drinking glasses labeled A, B, and C with a total of 72 mL of water in the three of them in different amounts per glass.

You pour half of the contents of B into A.
Then you pour 1/5 of the new contents of A into C.

Now all three glasses have 24 mL in them.
How many mL did each glass contain before you started pouring?

May 10th Answers:

Amadeus, Music Man, Mamma Mia, Oklahoma, Spamalot. They're all titles of Broadway shows and they all contain the consecutive letters MA.

May 11th Answer:

4
To get the number on the right, perform the addition on the left and add the digits of this sum.

Answers:

B had to have had 48 mL since I poured half into A and was left with 24 mL.
4/5(24 + A) = 24, so A = 6 and C = 18.
