Throg will stand up and smack Carrow upside the head. Then he'll go back to fighting undead creatures.

There's not enough room for everyone to engage at melee range with the ghoul. I'll assume that Kelgar is the one displaced back to where the skeletons were (closest to the spooky skull door/chaos gate). Kelgar is ready to step in if anyone needs relieved. He cannot reach Carrow from his current position, but this turn, the Warriors (if they don't get pinned) will have enough room to rearrange themselves so that any two of them are within reach of Kelgar and can be healed by him...

Round 11
-The Power Phase is 2 for this turn.
-Kelgar rejuvenates Throg with his Healing Touch blessing (18/19).
-Throg tries to smack Carrow upside the head, but the Elf Helm deflects the blow.
-Dorgath's Lifestone of Ashraz fully heals him.
-Carrow fights defensively. Attacks against him are at -1 to hit.
-A ghoul swipes Carrow (2/14).
-A ghoul lunges at Carrow. The elf's defensive stance lets him deflect the force of the attack.
-Throg decides that the best defense is a good offense. Unfortunately, his swing looks rather drunken and doesn't hit anything but air.
-Throg kicks at a ghoul. The monster blocks.
-Throg tries to bite a ghoul, but can't get an opening.
-Dorgath attacks a ghoul, but misses.
-Dorgath kicks a ghoul in the chest. The monster gets stuck to the dwarf's foot and he has to stomp a few times to dislodge its body. I guess he finished it off?

Nine ghouls and two skeletons are still up there, and they're continuing to advance.

(no one is pinned at the moment and the party has the entire bottom of the pit to themselves until the next ghoul reaches the bottom, so they can rearrange themselves however they like so long as each Warrior doesn't move more than four spaces)

If someone is occupying a space directly where the monsters could descend, they can't actually descend, correct? That's how it seemed to work when we wanted to get up top...[/b]

If the above is true, then Dorgath and Throg should arrange themselves so one is in a space below where one could descend and the other should be in the square north of the available descending square, then Kelgar(?), if he's good at melee, should put himself in the square diagonal so we have three squares surrounding the available open descent square (I can't remember if someone diagonal could attack) and Carrow could take potshots with his bow.

If the above is NOT true and it doesn't matter if a descending square is occupied because a monster could still descend right on top, then Throg and Dorgath should arrange themselves in a line in the two squares above the descending squares and Kelgar and Carrow can be behind them to provide support.

That's good thinking, Spiderman. I have a feeling that things can still jump on our heads even if we "block" their entry, but I agree that your ideas are the best strategies for either situation.

Like Turgy pointed out, even if you block them from reaching the floor, they can still jump on your heads. Going line-abreast with Dorgath and Throg in the front does work, however. So I'll assume that the party takes that configuration.

-Kelgar heals Carrow with his Healing Touch blessing (8/14).
-Carrow clears his head. He is feeling a bit better now.

-A ghoul reaches the floor and tries to tackle Throg, but trips and runs into a wall.

-Throg kicks narrowly missing a ghoul.
-Throg snaps at a ghoul. The monster is taken aback, but manages to escape the attack.

Round 13
-The Power Phase is 3 for this turn.
-Kelgar blesses Carrow with Healing Touch, fully restoring him.
-A ghoul's attack hits Throg, but fails to damage him through his armor and defiance aura.
-A ghoul swipes at Throg and just misses.
-A ghoul tumbles at Dorgath and veers too far outside, failing to hit him.
-A ghoul tries to maul Dorgath and is pushed back.
-Throg slashes a ghoul's neck. The monster is thrown back, but not killed (4 damage).
-Throg kicks a ghoul in the face. The ghoul collapses.
-Throg, apparently feeling a bit hungry, bites a ghoul (2 damage).
-Dorgath hacks into a ghoul (2 damage).
-Dorgath kicks a ghoul in the rips. The ghoul falls on top of him. Dorgath shoves the body aside.
-The cowardly ghouls break and flee into the shadows. All remaining ghouls (5) are removed from combat. Two skeletons remain on the ledge.

Yes, let's defend Carrow and allow him to plink the skeletons with arrows until they die or disperse.

Since the caring Kelgar has restored me to my former completeness, let's take out those Skeletons.... arrows may not do a thing to them, so it's swords and clubs.....
Let's go get them.... that's my plan... get em!

Round Whatever
-The Power Phase is 1 for this turn. An Unexpected Event occurs...
-Attracted by the noise, six giant bats and six giant rats arrive from parts unknown. The bats ambush the Warriors. The rats take advantage of this and rush past the slow-moving skeletons, descending into the pit.
-A giant bat swoops at Throg. In its aggression, the monster's attack ends up being way off.
-A giant bat bites Carrow's shoulder (12/14).
-A giant bat strikes Throg's chest. Throg's armor absorbs the bats attack completely.
-A giant bat claws at Throg's helmet, doing no damage.
-A giant bat swoops at Carrow, who ducks to avoid the attack.
-A giant bat crashes into Kelgar's helm. Kelgar is briefly disoriented, but sustains no damage.
-Kelgar fails to bless anything.

Pausing for new declarations or whatever. Man, just as I thought this combat was finally going to end...

Carrow swings his sward at the swooping bats..
"Who's idea was it to stay down here?", "Mine?"

Throg has an idea. He'll use some poison on some provisions (provided he has some) and throw it out for the rats to gobble up before they attack.

If, on the other hand, there is, let's say, a 0% possibility that that idea will work, Throg will poison his sword and administer the dosages intravenously through the rats' buttocks, necks, eyeballs, rib cages, etc.

Edit: Also, he'll try to kill the bats, since they seem to be the only creature within reach at the moment.

Edit 2: Speaking of bats, did I mention on here that I had a bat in my bathroom a few months ago? Apparently, it fell asleep on my shower curtain, so when I went to take a shower and opened the curtain, it fell out onto my foot. So I closed it in the bathroom and later locked my wife in there with the bat so it could flutter around and scare her. Eventually, it settled onto our AC vent and we caught it in some Tupperware and released it outside. So... I forgot what's in my inventory, but if Throg has Tupperware, he'll attempt to use it in order to trap one of the bats.

Edit 3: This post reminds me that I need to update Crapstorm.
