Warhammer Quest: Death Below Karak Azgal

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
Dorgath drops stonebread on the floor where he is standing before continuing with Throg toward the light. The light seems to recede the closer you approach. It occurs to you that it looks a lot like it could be a lantern, just like the one you're carrying, only some distance away. Dorgath finds his stonebread right where he left it. Well, not exactly right where he left it. He left it in the previous section of corridor. And now it's in this one. Oh...

"See! Aha! Tricky chaos magic..."

What did Carrow and Kelgar see, presuming they stood in place the whole time?

The Tentacled One
Kelgar and Carrow came along (I generally assume that party member that don't indicate otherwise will try to stay within the lantern's range to avoid being lost in the dark, although it's probably now apparent that at this time that isn't a problem).

Kelgar begins joining the search for any hidden doors or other mechanisms.

"So you figured it out, dwarf. Good job. Now how do we get out of it?"

"You're a magic guy, not me. Can't you and Carrow figure this out?"

Dorgath tells the others to wait while he travels back towards the "light" down the corridor and hopefully they can see how the magic works.

The Tentacled One
Dorgath goes west. Carrow and Throg watch as he gets farther away and becomes harder to see. Almost exactly after Dorgath disappears entirely, he emerges from the east, behind the rest of the party.

The Tentacled One
Dorgath seems to be taking even longer this time. Throg and Kelgar search fruitlessly while Dorgath disappears to the east. Throg eventually finds that part of the wall seems to be denser than the rest of the wall. He tries to push against it from different directions and suddenly, the section collapses, revealing a well-hidden door. Before he has a chance to check the door out, Carrow spots Dorgath walking toward them from the west.

The door swings open easily, causing warm, fetid air to swirl out into the tunnel, bringing with it a fine layer of dust. There are three doors in this corridor: one straight ahead, one to the right, and one to the left. The door straight ahead of you is bound in bronze and studded with iron. The doors to the sides are simple wooden doors with brass hinges.thepitofdarkness02.png

"Just checking out the trap, elf. Good work guys"

Dorgath checks the new passage for traps and secret doors.

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
Dorgath finds that the locked door seems to be trapped. He is unable to get a good look at the mechanism and does not know how to disarm the trap.

That would be the northern one (the one "straight ahead" from where Throg opened up the secret door). Well, technically, you arrived on this level of the dungeon through a magical gateway and you can't be sure which direction corresponds to which compass direction, but there's not going to be a point at which that matters, so we'll just assume that up on the map is north.

Dorgath can only listen at one door per turn, so if anyone else wants to do anything other than stand around let me know...

Dorgath listens for sounds behind the locked door. He doesn't hear anything.

Oversoul

The Tentacled One
Carrow detects a faint sound of some sort of movement behind the door. He cannot identify the sound, as it's rather quiet...

Throg gains +2 Loitering points.
