The staircase leads to Deep 2, which is treated as a new adventure. All Warriors start the new deep at full Wounds and all items and abilities with any "once per adventure" clause are reset, including Throg's Chalice of Night. Food items that have a chance to spoil at the end of an adventure will NOT be subject to this. Let's see if we can get Melkor to show up too, now that it's a new adventure...

Anyway, do you want to enter Deep 2 now? [Y/N]

Hrm... sounds like a big jump. Anyone have any other ideas to get that other door open before we proceed?

I don't think we've missed anything. You can get a pretty goo idea of the whole map by looking back at these posts:
Entrance
Right Passage (where we went first and found the traps.)
Dragon Room / Tomb (the Dragon Room is connected by a door to the yellow room on the left in the entrance area.)

And, of course, we have that strange door at the end of the hall that leads from the room we're in. I don't think anyone except Melkor wants to try opening it, which leaves us two choices: 1) disturb the dragon in the room next to this one and possibly get our butts kicked (but also possibly find a way to open that door) and 2) start the next adventure. Having already used up my best weapon / item combo, I'm reluctant to start a fight against what is probably a very large monster, so I'm ready to move on.

"Well, it appears we found the fate of the grandfather. Why don't we return to the dwarf hold and report what we found so far and restock before going further below? They may also have an idea about this door."
