I actually thought of this as a red card, but figured that 'return a phoenix' pretty much meant 'return this card'.. by changing it to bird, it might be fun in a Bird deck..

Maybe it should reworded so it can't ever bring back itself?

like this?
When <THIS> is put into the graveyard, return another target bird of opponents choice to your hand.

Excellent!

Another:
Combat Angel 3WR
Creature - Angel
Flying
At end of combat, if ~ attacked or blocked this turn, put a +1/+1 counter on all creatures that attacked or blocked this turn.

I like it. I really like it a lot. It hits normal critter (like the Prodigal Sorcerers) and also can make a Serra Angel (or any other Vigilance critter) quake in thier boots. Only thing I am not sure of is the Blue in the casting cost. Green definately belongs there, but almost seems to be GR. Didn't red have provoke and False Orders, etc....?

The blue makes sense to me, as causing a creature to lose it's abilities is a typical blue or white function.

Is this better? I think the White fits better than the blue.

Common is my take on this.

Flavor text: Strip them of their honor and banish them to battle.

Unarmed Combat
2W
Instant
All creatures lose all abilities until EOT.
Common
The gladiators smiled and the knights blanched.

First, a random card:

Benign Ooze - 2BG
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a +1/+1 counter on ~.
3BG, Sacrifice ~: Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature for each counter on ~.
or
When ~ is put into a graveyard from play, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature for each counter on ~.
1/1

Not sure on which version would be more fun..

On to other cards:
I like the unarmored combat and unarmed combat. I'm not sure they should be common (at least not both of them, would give white a lot of removal) but that can be sorted out later.

Oh, and Unarmored Combat should definitely be GW.. losing abilities seems to fit white better than it does blue.

I like! I think it should definitely be the first wording. This card can get really sick if otherwise.

Also, cleaned up the wording of the second ability (you just said "counter" without specifying) and added the <THIS> for the Editor program.

Benign Ooze
Creature - Ooze
2BG
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a +1/+1 counter on <THIS>.
When <THIS> is put into a graveyard from play, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature for each +1/+1 counter on <THIS>.

I'M BACK FROM ATLANTA, GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!! Does anyone have an updating set file for the MTG Editor that they can e-mail out using the address I set up?

Now its doesn't combo with Mana Chains ;)

So, just to be clear, these are the two options I thought of. The first one costs a bit more mana, but the second one can totally be used against you.

Benign Ooze v1
Creature - Ooze
2BG
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a +1/+1 counter on <THIS>.
3BG, Sacrifice <THIS>: Put a +1/+1 counter on each creature for each +1/+1 counter on <THIS>.
1/1

Benign Ooze v2
Creature - Ooze
2BG
At the beginning of your upkeep, put a +1/+1 counter on <THIS>.
When <THIS> is put into a graveyard from play, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature for each +1/+1 counter on <THIS>.

AH! Didn't click to me that it says "EACH CREATURE" instead of " EACH CREATURE YOU CONTROL." With that being the case, I think you can get away with v2.

I just got inspired..

Living brain of a Pearled Unicorn 2W
Pearled Creature - Unicorn-Brain
Whenever you would discard two or more cards, if <THIS> is in your hand, you may discard <THIS> instead.

Okay, that made no sense whatsoever :D

Right. Good call.. I was stuck thinking in terms of a triggered ability, but a replacement ability doesn't need the if clause..

Perhaps this card shouldn't be a creature? An instant of some sort, like Pure Intentions or Mangara's Blessing?

Ransac

CPA Trash Man
I don't know. If you were to make it an instant/sorcery, what would it do if you actually cast it?

Counter target Hypnotic Specter?

Or destroy target Specter! How is that for narrow?

Ransac

CPA Trash Man
lol!

That would be warranted if we had enough specters in the set to justify a card that narrow. ;)
