Use the words below to form a chain in which each word links to the next to create a common compound (or hyphenated) word or phrase. The chain comes full circle, and in honor of St. Patrick's Day, it both starts and ends with the word GREEN. But watch out! With leprechauns abounding today, there are bound to be tricks. To begin the chain, words that can follow GREEN are HOUSE (to make GREENHOUSE), LIGHT (GREEN LIGHT), CARD or ROOM. There's a surprise ending with the final word that links back to GREEN.

GREEN
SERVICE
SUN
TABLE

GUEST
CARD
ROOM
PUTTING
LIGHT

The storage box for my Magic cards has room for most of my cards, and, on a nearby shelf, I keep the extra 16 cards that do not fit. If I expand the length of the box by 30%, I'll have room for all of my cards, plus enough room to store another 20 cards in the future.

How many cards do I currently own?

Answer:
M = B + 16
M + 20 = 1.3B
Solving the two equations, we find that the number of Magic cards currently owned, M, is equal to 136.

March 19th Answer:

the first box is 120 cards (which is a really small card box)
the expanded box would be 156 cards (which is not much better than the other box)
Therefore you have 136 cards (which is nothing to brag about!) :D

10 are made up of only one rectangle.
6 are made up of two smaller rectangles.
2 are made up of three.
5 are made up of four.
4 are made up of five.
1 is made up of six.

Jane is now six years older than Rachel. In three years, Rachel will be two-thirds of Jane's age now.

How old are they now?

Answer:
J = R + 6
(2/3)*(J) = R + 3 ==> J = 1.5R + 4.5
Subtracting the first equation from the second: 0.5R = 1.5 ==> R = 3

Rachel is currently 3 years old, and Jane is 9.
