    Oh, I wouldn't agree with 'doomed to failure' but I would agree that an agreement on what is 'complex' to one person is easy-peesy to another. Maybe rarity is the way to go. Use 10 common instants.

    Instant spells that are simplistic in both wording and mechanical: Counterspell/Cancel Red instants that have: "~This~ deals x damage to target creature or player" Disenchant/Naturalize Doom Blade Giant Growth Fog/Holy Day Jump Boomerang Dark Ritual Those kind of easy spells.

    For Vanilla creature feature I can see the stalemate problem. For the French vanilla Creature Feature there wouldn't be stalemates. In creature features, as far as I know, no other card types except for land are allowed, right? I like Moosie's idea about creatures, basic lands and instants...

    If I had to actually put a date on my starting of playing magic I'd say it was September 1996. So I'm still playing and it's December 2009. That's 13 years of playing this stupid game! Though I haven't done it in a long time I'd have to say DRAFTING is my favorite way to play.

    Tauren Mauler is awesome in multiplayer. This past Saturday we had 12 players,...imagine how big it would've gotten AND someone played a Crystalline Sliver, Yipee!!!!! I own one copy so I'll have to pick up some more, they list for like 3 bucks I think. Abyssal Gatekeeper is mucho good, too...
