    New Magic: Commander game?

Just to prove I am lurking ;) the color formatting of spidey's Ghave is incorrect ;)

Nice interview. I read most articles on dailymtg, but the last few years I stopped reading article coverage. Actually, ever since the previous extended rotation (not the last one!) I stopped caring about that format and got more into Legacy. Legacy coverage is, well, not so good. Limited isn't...

Well, banning high profile individuals has some impact... Also, consider this: these players had the full card list weeks/months in advance of their opponents. That's a lot of time for additional playtesting.

Wizards responds in style... they've banned four magic players. I know (of) two of them, Wafo-Tapa and Matignon are pretty famous. In other news:

    Black life loss/gain deck

Urborg Syphon-Mage indeed. Even the name instills fear in most opponents!

    Black life loss/gain deck

You don't need to play it on turn 1 ;) It'd be a strong card even if it'd cost 5. But it does draw attention. There's also a Syphon Soul on a stick, but I can't recall the name. It's notoriously good at drawing removal spells.

The last time this happened some people got themselves in a serious shitstorm... Anyway, back to power creep... Diabolic Edict is pretty good right? There's now a Diabolic Edict that deals 1 damage in the addition of the sacrifice clause, for BB instead of 1B. Not that's it's overpowered I...

    Bloodchief Ascension?

That's partly true. In the case of dredge and affinity for instance, it's pretty clear that these decks spawned from Standard decks, but generally speaking there's little chance you could adapt your Standard deck to Legacy. Sometimes existing tier 2 decks get a boost by a single new card, so...

The thing is, cards don't go away in Legacy. They do in standard. Though it's clear that Legacy has changed since it's inception (mainly better mana bases, under the influence of wasteland+stifle decks), it hasn't changed much. Even today's top deck is the same deck it was in 2004.

You could use deckcheck for that, but deckcheck is dead.

Control decks play Firespout, and play white for StP. In SCG's deck database I found a total of 4 top 8-decks running WoG (one of them from an online event...). You can find an elaborate walkthrough of current decks here. From those lists there was a single occasion where one guy ran a single...

In Legacy it's not uncommon to be dead by turn 4.

    New Phyrexian Mechanics

I just figured out that storm decks will really like this. Let's see if they are dumb enough to print Brainstorm with phyrexian mana.

I guess there are numerous ways to improve Wrath of God. To make it more effective you should be able to cast is sooner (before turn 4) or generate more card advantage with it. They could make it blue (you never know). They could make one with Phyrexian mana, then it's essentially free to play...

Who needs the color pie anyway? Besides that, I like the flavor. I bet there will be some very broken EDH/2HG cards coming out of this...

    New Phyrexia Previews

Indeed. That was the last point I was making. But I figure there are some cards that are too good to be improved upon. Can you imagine a WoG for 3 mana?

    New Phyrexia Previews

Well, they're not really destroying it. Sales are at a record high, so it can't be that bad. But I do illustrate what I mean, and that's that the game is changing from what was a reasonably constant for a long period of time (the argument of 1 mana p/t and wrath). As Wizards made clear some time...

Oversoul makes my point much more eloquently ;) But there's something else besides making my creature cards obsolete: 1. Buffing creature stats is a cheap way to impress people. Okay, face it, Ernham Djinn had some room for improvement. I guess most of you figure "1 p/t equals 1 mana, in green...
