finally all the way back through to the dungeon to the chaos gateway (assuming that a method for opening it can be found).

I guess it's been so long that I forgot, but so we arrived here via a chaos gate and so can't get back to Karak Varr (Barak Varr?) to resupply? I love your map, BTW, if I get D&D started up again, I'd love to use your mapping program

I think we checked for traps and such on this door already but if we haven't, Dorgath will do so. If we have, Dorgath opens it after making sure everyone is ready.

Not Barak Varr, but Karak Azgal. Barak Varr is a massive dwarven fortress along the corner of the Black Gulf. And no, I'm not such an expert on Warhammer lore that I knew that. I have a map. Karak Azgal (The City of Jewels), where you are, is a famous ruin a few hundred miles SES of Barak Varr, past the Badlands and nestled between the mountains. The nearest large settlement is Karak Azul, a mining community. But the party never actually visited Karak Azul. Instead, you were in a fortress (much smaller than Barak Varr) built on the site of Karak Azgal near what used to be the main entrance. This fortress was built by the descendents of a famous warrior who defended Karak Azgal before it fell to the orcish hordes. The owners of the fortress have been waging a long campaign to take Karak Azgal back for the dwarves. They welcome adventurers of all races to explore the tunnels of Karak Azgal, levying a toll consisting of a percentage of the treasure excavated from the ruins: an easy way to kill off some of the orcs and to obtain financing for more organized attempts at reclaiming the lost city. But your party was not part of that arrangement. Instead, you were recruited by a dwarven trader to investigate a hidden entrance, not known to the rulers of the fortress. He wanted you to look for his father (who is believed to have fallen in battle while holding off legions of goblins so that his companions could escape) and his grandfather. You found the grandfather's ghost and remains (and a minotaur wielding his hammer) in the level above. The remains also had a scroll talking about seeking something called "the star of dawn." None of the party had ever heard of it before.

Anyway, the door that Throg identified as a chaos gateway has not yet been opened (and has two separate magical locks). The party arrived in this deep by taking a staircase, which ended at the southeasternmost door on the map. Passage back to the surface should still be possible. It would take a while, though. As for supplies, no one is running out of anything. In fact, some of the provisions you have will be in danger of spoiling after the completion of this adventure (not a problem for Dorgath's stonebread) and Carrow still has 41 more arrows. Of course, everyone also has more gold than they entered with, so if you want to do some shopping, you certainly could.

As for the map, I made that on MS Paint by copying and pasting scans of the board sections from Warhammer Quest (someone else scanned them, not me). I'm not nearly cool enough to have mapping programs. :p Also, I forget what we were even doing in that D&D campaign, but yes, you should get that started up again. Do I need to post? I'll look for the thread in a moment...

But first, find some BOSS FIGHT MUSIC!

Dorgath opens the door to reveal a large, oppressive chamber with an altar at the far end. Flames leap from a bronze brazier, suffusing the chamber with a dull, red glow. It is a Chaos temple, and on the altar is the bronze idol of a daemon. Standing next to the ido is the Orc Shaman you encountered earlier: Skabnoze

As you ready your weapons, four chaos warriors step forward from the shadows with a clank of heavy armor. Each has a blade that reflects the blood-red glow of the flames. One of them has a large iron key hanging around his neck.

As they emerge from the darkness, all four chaos warriors say, in unison:

"What seek ye here, foolish mortals?"

Ah, for some reason, I thought we were exploring under Barak Varr. It's been so long!

Um, are we ready for this kind of fight guys?

I'm not going to be on this weekend as you all know, so if we do decide to fight, Dorgath will throw a trusty Firebomb at the group and try to make it to the Shaman, as he's the biggest threat (I think)

Yeah, why not? If we die, we'll just hit the reset button.

Throg will respond to the warriors: "Brothers of Chaos, I have ventured here to exact revenge upon the orc shaman you stand before. He has done me wrong and his blood will be mine. Join me, if you will, for the sport of orc-slaying should never grow old and if you help me defeat him, we can all play a game of Blood Bowl with his head."

Throg will attack Skabnoze and, if his path is blocked, he will kill those who stand in his way.

Reset button? Is that some Chaos-type magic item? :D

Dorgath follows Throg, throwing his Firebomb in between the shaman and warriors if the Warriors attack us and just closing with the Shaman if they don't.

No changes to my strategy.

EDIT: On second thought, can Throg try out a guaranteed-to-hit axe-throw, combined with the Axe's special ability? I have a feeling that taking out Skabnoze in short order may prove beneficial to ending this battle quickly.

Dorgath, seeing the Orc Shaman fall, turns, throws his last Firebomb in the middle of the Chaos Warriors, and then attacks Chaos Warrior #1.

The Tentacled One
Dorgath is already engaged in melee with the chaos warriors, so he'll have to roll to break away in order to engage #1, who is currently out of his reach. Throg can reach #1, #2, and #3. Dorgath can reach #2, #3, and #4. Kelgar can reach #3 and #4. Carrow isn't yet engaged in melee, so he can shoot any of them with his bow or run up next to where Throg is and attack either #1 or #2 with a sword.

Dorgath attacks #2. "Hey guys, let's all concentrate on one foe together! And since 1 and 2 are wounded already, let's get them!"
