Mine were:

Aerosmith
Metallica

I also listened to a variety of Country music, but not as often as the above bands. As for Solo Artists, the only one that comes to mind is Springstein.

Well, I was around back then, and I listened to a LOT of hard rock and heavy metal music...Not sure I can name exact favorites though, as there were quite a few but I guess a short list of bands might look like this:
  • UFO
  • Iron Maiden
  • Scorpions
  • Van Halen
  • Metallica
  • Tesla
  • Judas Priest
  • Dokken
  • Def Leppard
  • Ozzie/Black Sabbath
  • Rush
  • Aerosmith
  • Fastway

I didn't really listen to solo artists per se, and I was more into whole albums than I was into particular songs, but a few songs that come to mind are:
  • Main Street/Van Halen
  • Rock Bottom/UFO
  • Hallowed be thy Name/Iron Maiden
  • Animal Magnetism/Scorpions
  • Tyrant/Judas Priest
  • I Can't Drive 55/Sammy Hagar
  • Dreams/Van Halen (after Sammy joined the band)
  • Freewill/Rush
  • You Can't Kill Rock and Roll/Ozzie Osbourne
  • Seasons of Wither/Aerosmith
  • Telephone/Fastway
  • Changes/Tesla
  • Animation-Valley of the Kings-Giza/HSAS
The last one is technically more than one song, but the 3 songs just kinda flow into one another...;)
