What is an interesting multiplication property of 6? (hint: it's when multiplying by even numbers)

Whenever you multiply an even number by six, you get a number that is divisible by twelve!

Why are there 360 degrees in a circle?

Because the Babylonians liked counting by twelves instead of tens. I believed it was also close to early estimates of the number of days in a solar year, however - the babylonians actually have the best calendar... Better even than the one we use... http://www.friesian.com/calendar.htm

What is the really cool property of multiplying 6 times an even number? (hint: A similar interesting property comes from multiplying 5 times an even number - both of which correlate oddly to 2 very important multiplicative properties.)

I can't think of which property you mean. But I remember reading somewher that the Babylonians got the 360 degree circle from the Sumerians and if that's true then it was passed down to the Babylonians (like a lot of Sumerian things).

What property IS BigBlue talking about?

The "Hidden Property" on the Monopoly Game. It is the third property that was supposed to go with Boardwalk and Park Place!

Did anyone miss me while I was gone?

You were gone? Oh, I'm supposed to answer the question.... Yes...

To answer my own question... I noticed a strange symbiosis between 0 & 5, and 1 & 6... The two major properties of multiplication ( x times 0 = 0, and x times 1 = x (identity property)) Any even # times five results in a 0 in the ones digit, and any even # times 6 gives you the same ones digit (2 * 6 = 12, 4 * 6 = 24, 6 * 6 = 36, etc....) Which is useful when doing number puzzles... which I tend to do a lot of. OK, on to my question.

What is the most interesting website you've visited in the last day? (other than this one of course).
