This new development for me has me so excited that I wanted to shout it out here.

I just got a new promotion at work. For the past 7 months, I have been in an apprenticeship program for Sales Reps with my company. The job I was doing was a contract labor job, therefore there were no benefits, no employment guarantee past the terms of the contract, they did not take out taxes, etc.... On Monday, I got hired full time, and amazingly enough, not as a sales rep. I will be the Director of Customer Safety and Authorized OSHA Forklift Safety Trainer for my company. This is a full-time position with complete benefits and retirement packages. It is also about double my current salery (with potential for a whole lot more as I develope my customer base).

The only unfortunate thing is that for the next 2 months, I may be here a bit more sporadically (although I should be able to check in at least 2 times a week. This is due to the fact that they will be sending me to several cities to get my trainer, OSHA and General Industry Outreach training. I am unsure of my schedule right now but will try to communicate it where applicable when I do receive it. I do not think this will hold up much of the games run stuff I am in, but I do ask you guys to bear with me.

If you bring your laptop with you you can still check in while on the road, you know...There are hotspots all over the place these days...;)

Actually, I think they are going to be furnishing me with a new "work use" laptop, however if they do it will still have the wireless capability, so you are probably right. I wonder if I can expense out any costs I incure from places like Fourbucks?

Very Cool.... I have some big news of my own....

I'm engaged to my Girlfriend.

We're moving in together next week.

We're taking a trip to Vegas at the end of February (where we're getting married on the 27th).

And most exciting of all, we're expecting a child (her first, my 3rd) in September.

It's been a wonderful year so far. :)

Oh, and I got a new role at work too, but I don't expect a raise or anything... But I am very excited about that too.

Congratulations on both the engagement and baby! That's a quick engagement if you don't mind me saying so, are you guys basically eloping or just having a small affair (my brother did the latter at Vegas, just like 3 or 4 friends at the chapel)?

I haven't had room for Magic in years... :)

I want to play once in a while, but none of my friends are into it anymore and I'm not a big fan of the younger kids who play around here... Once in a while I play against my boys, but not very often.

Thanks a lot. I'm ecstatic, it's a very short engagement... As I tell people - sometimes wonderful things happen out of order, but that doesn't make them any less wonderful (if you catch my meaning).

Well, work has actually been taking up my days, and that trend isn't going to change anytime soon...

But, this isn't the thread for my life.

I just meant to include that I also had great news. I think it's terrific for DF that he got a promotion and will be making better money. I realized later I sort of hijacked his good news.
