Reason I was Off Yesterday

So I get ready for work yesterday morning and leave the house at 5:45 AM only to see...

My car buried under part of our front yard tree.

So I go back to bed. :)

Thanks to the storm and heavy winds, our Bradford Pear tree split during the night and landed on our driveway, completely burying my car and partially burying my wife's car.

So I spent the day calling tree removal companies, who are of course all busy since it happened all over the county and probably state.

A neighbor helped my cut away the branched burying my car and the driveway and I find that there's NO damage to the car - just the uppermost branches covered it, so that turned out to be a blessing.

And the tree guys came out this morning and cut down the rest of the tree and woodchipped the branches, so that's done.

Never get a Bradford Pear tree.

Your car was unscathed because that was not a real tree. I've seen the "trees" that pears grow on and they're pretty puny. When trees fall over here, anything they land on is squished.

Do they even have real trees on the East coast?

Mooseman, however, IS real, I've seen him! :eek:

Well, despite its name, I've never seen any pears on it so it's gotta be a real tree... :)

That happened to me once, too. Fortunately, I had decided to park the car in the garage the night before, but the driveway was completely blocked.
