According to WotC's Suspended Players page (accessible by going to mtgnews.com and clicking on the appropriate article), Michael Long has been suspended for one full month for 'insufficient randomization of cards'.

YEAH!!!!!!!!

Just goes to show you, sometimes, bad things DO happen to bad people. :)

Also, take a look at some of the other suspensions on that page, their lengths in particular... looks to me like he got off easy.
Well, at least they did something about it. I guess.

Actually,he got off very easy. His suspension ends just days before Worlds, and there were no major tournaments in July that he'll miss because of the suspension. So,the suspension really didn't do much of anything.

At least he's on record with a suspension. I agree with you guys, and that he should have gotten much, much more, but it seems the DCI doesn't want to mess with that jerk too much.

Which is too bad...:(

The suspensions were a bunt, most PT players were calling for a two-year suspension. But then Long is clever and made sure he never actually got caught doing anything that WotC could pin him to as actually cheating. They had to get him for 'not shuffling enough' and a two year ban would have been crazy.

But it shows to the rest of the PT that Mike Long will be watched through a microscope every day of his Magic-playing life.

first of all, one month is very short compared to the other suspensions. He barely misses anything. And did anyone catch that Massimo Esposito guy towards the bottom of that list. I heard he got lifetime expulsion for sleeping with a judges wife

Look at all the other 'insufficient shuffling' suspensions.

The length appears to be based on the offense.

Actually, has anyone actually seen him cheat?

I mean, my best friend almost always seems to get the cards he needs when he needs them. But any one can planely see it's just phanominal luck. I've had 2 people once watch him through a whole game, and they even shuffled the deck for him. Guess what? He won a useual. At a typeII tournament he scored second place witha rouge deck that uses Skyshroad claims to cast a Rhox quickly. 1st place was one of the 4 replenish players there. He lost one game when he got mana screwed.

I've never seen Mike Long before, but my friend sounds like a prodigy of this guy.

So what I'm saying is, what if he really is inocent?

#1, people have seen him cheat. SEEN him.
#2, WotC doesn't issue official punishments unless they're *dead certain* that the person is guilty.

Godhand, he was banned because of some deal with prearranged cards in a sealed deck tournament. He then assaulted a judge that reported him (or something like that). He wouldn't be suspended for sleeping with a judge's wife; that's a non-magic related offence, so the DCI wouldn't do anything about it.
