When you say materialize... as in out of thin air? or are you using that as an expression to say we sort of "run into" them...

** Sorry, I meant that as an expression as you "run into them". They more or less step into your torchlight
Missile fire comes before magic so Rondo will hold his fire until the next round **
Patrick whispers his magic words and all but one slump to the floor. Karnage rushes at the remaining one and they meet with a clang of iron.
Round 2 - You have the initiative again.
Rondo fires but his arrow goes wide. Karnage continues to furiously battle hand-to-hand but his opponent holds his own.
** I'll give time for anyone else to jump in with an action, otherwise the enemy gets to strike **

Assume flanking positions with Karange and attack....
Si'Nat's arrow also flies wide. Cugel's blow misses. The hallway only allows for two people to fight side-by-side, so Bertrem hovers behind Karnage and Cugel, waiting for an opportunity to strike in case one of them falls.
The hooded man's blow <whuffs> by Karnage.
Round 3 - Enemy gets initiative.
The man scores a staggering blow on Karnage. Karnage reels back, looking very shaky. Bertrem steps up to take his place.
Both Si'Nat and Rondo's arrows fly true his time, taking him in both shoulders. Cugel and Bertrem's blows are ineffective though.
Round 4 - enemy gets initiative
The man turns his attention on Bertrem and swipes him across the brow, drawing blood.
Rondo seems to have unerring aim as his second arrow hits a glancing blow across the leg. Si'Nat misses though. Cugel and Bertrem still can't get past the man's guard.
Round 5 - He gets initiative again.
This time, Bertrem dodges out of the way of the man's swipe.
And this time, Rondo misses while Si'Nat's arrow slams into an arm. The guy is starting to look like a pincushion
