Too Fat?

On the cover of People magazine is Former Victoria Secret Model turned TV Talk Show Host Tara Banks with her rebuttal "Is this too fat?" She's in a red one-piece swim suit and she looks good! A news Entertainment Mag several weeks ago shot one of those long distance photos of her and she did look really terrible as most of us do when we think no one is lurking, um,...er,....I mean looking.

Personally, I don't like super skinny super models,...ever! At 5' 10" and now 30 lbs over her model weight 160 lbs. she's normal looking.

Do any of you like super skinny super models or do you like the normal looking gals?

If by "super-skinny", you mean the ones where their ribcage is showing... no, I like the normal ones :)

Normal for me please, thank you.

Personally, I think the whole modelling thing is a disasterous business to begin with. There really is no "ideal", but there is a lot of "what sells" that turns into an ideal for impresionable people. What percentage of the population is 100% satisfied with themselves for who they are?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that based on attendance at Magic tournaments, the vast population of gamers don't care as much about their appearance as most groups. But I think that even so, the vast majority of the populace feels at least in part insecure about who they are.

There was a recent cover of the TV section that showed Tyra Banks. Personally, I don't find her that attractive, but she was certainly looking eligant. Then you look more closely and you start to realize, "what is this, some sort of contortionist excersize? No one sits like that." Point being that half of the time, the poses, make-up, lighting, etc. are specifically to enhance certain aspects.

I'm not saying that people like Tyra aren't naturally good-looking. I don't think they make it as models unless someone finds them very attractive. But you start with attractive and then add elements that don't really work in real-life, but look good on film, and you have an unachievable ideal no matter what you set the weight level at.

I'm the one with manboobs who talks to women with a ribcage everyday... It's like the pilsbury dough man talking to a skeleton.
