Yeah, I was trying to remember which one you submitted, CT. I wasn't sure if yours was one of them or not, but that one sounded the most like the one that you mentioned, so that's the one I voted for.
Besides, I liked that one best anyway as far as fitting the flavor and function of the card.

I sent an email to the editor of MTG.com about that particular flavor text. I'm hoping they are trying to make this an object lesson and if and when that text wins, they throw it out and give it to the next place.
Why you ask? Why should they let the people decide and then ignore the results?
I'll tell you why....
It's because, "...He reserves the right to BEAR arms."
What does that have to do with it? Because that was one of the most controversial flavor text ever to come out of WotC. Sure, it's cute and fun and...But it fails in one very crutial aspect. It doesn't translate to other languages.
At the time, they said that there was a policy being put in place to avoid such flavor text in the future. If "The grass is MEANER..." goes through, looks like that policy goes out the window.

The first flavor text about the trees falling is also a complete rip off of "Multani's ______" from Legacy(draw a card when somthing you control is countered).
Replace "Multani" with "I" and "If" with "Whenever" and it's the exact same thing!

The card is Multani's Presence.
And yes, the first flavor text is a complete ripoff. I wonder if the submitter knew about it or not. And I wonder if the people in charge of YMTC knew about it either (they should have).

And I'm still trying to figure how "The grass is meaner on the other side." made it to the second round of voting. I'm surprised it didn't win outright. We already screwed up the card so why not give it bad flavor text?

I wish they had made the voting process a bit more democratical, so that nothing could win with 34% of the votes.
For example the casting cost vote after readjusting the powerlevel was IMO screwed.
I don't think the majority wanted it to be splashable, but splashable it is, which annoys me to no end, I could live with the other choices (heck I voted for some of them ), but I disagree with the 3G casting cost, which wasn't even supported by an absolute majority.

0/4 for 2GG 1919 32.5%
0/1 for 1GG 1909 32.4%
I think with fairer voting processes like a cut down to the top2 or giving you the option to vote for multiple choices etc. the card would've turned out more to the likings of the majority

It's true that puns are really bad for translations, Werebear had a very crappy f.t. in German cause they tried to make a pun similar to the one on the english card, but it didn't really work.

Great point, LM. A lot of people were afraid that the Worship/Kismit/Pariah vote would be like that and allow Kismit to win because some of the Worship vote would be "stolen" by Pariah because they have similar mechanics.
In the case here, I suspect that most of the people who wanted 1GG would much prefer 2GG to 3G. I know I would and I voted for 1GG (to keep it killable by Smother). I still think it is way powerful at any cost, but making it splashable in standard is a hugely bad move, IMO.

Kinda reminds me of Rochester draft, with pro/scrub players playing the role of the mages. Not sure which is which...
