Moosie loaned me the series of Firefly and I just got done watching all 14 episodes. I'm not much of a cowboy and indians fan but I REALLY liked this show. Now the movie "Serenity" makes much more sense. :)

You have only just seen Firefly!?!?

*Goes light-headed at the shock of it all*

Firefly has got to be one of the best tv shows made, it's just that good. It also makes you wonder why the hell FOX cancelled it?

As you may guess I am a Firefly fan, and I promise I won't get that excited again, please let me stay :p

You answered the question in your 'posed' question: FOX :(

The Firefly world is way too "open minded", I know at first I had a hard time bending my mind enough to get by the whole Wild, Wild, West meets Star Wars and that a Man of the Cloth and a ***** (censored) coexist on a petty thief ship.

But I LOVED it! I know it's been, what, 5 years since the last episode? I'm just glad I got the opprtunity to watch it for the first time.

When was Serenity Movie made? A year or two after the show? 2005? I thought it was okay but now I want to see it again with my new insight.

Yeh 2005 it was made, just from the masssive amount of fan reaction to it being cancelled.

I saw Serenity as it came out and was told Firefly was actually the series that spawned this film, watched Firefly and then Serenity (in one loooong but good night :D) and it does make it better when have all the back story, especially watching River go through all her phases.

It's such a shame that it couldn't have been continued, a tv series can be slowed down, they can explain more, embelish things. A film has to hold you, which it does :), and it's got towrap up that epic story at the same time.

Such a shame, but I hope they get season two sorted.

There were a bunch of creative differences between the FOX executives and Joss Whedon. For example, the executives wanted to be able to put the shows on in any order they chose. Anyone who has watched the series knows that the pilot makes a lot more sense if seen first rather than the third or forth episode aired...

There are 3 episodes in the DVD that were never aired, so the final episode of the season (which was aired) actually had to be altered for certain things to make sense. It's changed back in the DVD collection, but what aired is included in the deleted scenes.

Having watched those 3 episodes, they all 3 have some stuff that could be considered questionable in terms of sex and/or nudity (two of them show bare backsides), so I imagine FOX didn't want to air them without cleaning that up. I don't know the history, but I imaging Joss resisted.

In the end, my understanding is that too many viewers didn't quite get it, in part because things were out of order.

At this point, it's escalated to what could be called a cult following. I just watched the entire series and the movie again as part of my recovery efforts :D

Yeh it's definately got a cult following over here, I haven't had a single person say it's bad when I make them watch it. Plus there's always someone who's watched where I would have thought they wouldn't.

It's infilitrated the consciousness almost:p just seems to be there, hailed as great but never gets to where it should be...TV! :D

It's just another example of FOX canning a show in it's first season because rating weren't "good" enough, quick enough....
Unfortunately Sci-Fi didn't pick it up and continue with the series... alas, now is too late.

I think it's a good show (or was). But I am no cult member of the Firefly nation.... my daughter is, and now so is KJ....

Hah, didn't think I'd find you guys turnin' into browncoats.

Hell, I'm happy to say that I helped in the movement to bring about the movie.
