After seeing the list, I honestly couldn't tell anyone the card I get the most requests for: the best black creature since Negator. What I've concluded, is that it isn't necessarily because of efficiency, it could be because of some extraordinary ability. My vote right now goes for Volcano Imp, but that's a completely random guess.

I like the looks of those Charms, there. If they're anything like the original, they'll be cool. Plus, it should be noted that, as Dragon cards, they probably cost three colored mana, which means their effect with be spectacular. Darigaaz could get away with being a 4 damage Sorcery and still have two other good abilities without being broken, at a mana cost of BRG.

I have to guess the 'best black creature' is the Scuta. It's the only one I can picture being BIG!

Cards I look forward to:

Goblin Game: Sounds like a coin-flipping card, therefore it will be fun! :)

Lashknife Barrier: Just so I can laugh at a card named after Lashknife...

Root Greevil: First one with the Beeble/Greevil deck wins!

Stratadon: Cool name, 'nough said!

...assume that the Black-As-"cool"-As-Negator creature will be Phyrexian...so I really think (to the point of knowing) that Phyrexian Scuta is our guy here.

I want to see what Sleeping Potion does - sounds cool.

Phyrexian Bloodstock sounds really cool; I hope the card is playable.

I hope the Charms are good - and common/uncommon.

And finally, Urza`s Guilt. I bet it's a rare; it's got "Urza" on its name. I just fear it is as dangerous as Urza's Rage.

...disappointing thing on the spoiler is seeing that Ertai's Trickery is a freakin' rare. A rare, for the devil's sake!

The good thing is that Wraped Devotion is ucommon which is really nice. Plus, all the Familiars are commons - plus they each have a small additional ability...a common? Planeshift looks good so far.

scuta, n. plural of scutum

scutum, n.
1. the long, leather-covered, wooden shield carried by infantrymen in the Roman legions.
2. in zoology, (a) the second section of the upper surface of a thoracc segment of an insect; (b) a heavy horny scale or platelet, especially as such as is developed in the integument of many reptiles.
3. in astronomy, a small constellation in the Milky Way, supposedly resembling a shield in shape.

So what is the Phrexian Scuta? If it is a big, nasty creature, then I guess that it's definitely not related to any shield. Perhaps a huge reptile or insect with a spiked or razor sharp carapace? ;)

Sparkcaster sounds good. Presumably R/*, maybe with some pinging capabilities. It'll probably be a good limited card, and I might even want to play it in constructed.

But...man, that's just speculation.

At any rate, I can't wait for Terminate and the new goblins (and Goblin Game...it does sound fun). I like the familiars, too.

Looks like a fun set shaping up.

Apparently, the Scuta is a powerful warrior with a nasty sword and shield. Anyway, here are its stats:

Phyrexian Scuta 3B
Creature - Zombie
Rare
Kicker: Pay 3 life.
If you paid the kicker cost, Phyrexian Scuta comes into play with two +1/+1 counters.

So, will it see play or what? ;)
