that's an awesome letter! sure to get us quite a few new members. give them the cpa email, and maybe even refer them to this board. i dunno.

The letter sounds professional and expresses our intent well.

Maybe you could put some examples of things we would complain to Wizards/DCI about like: recent bannings, errata, overpowered cards and anything that would encourage people to take action.

Otherwise, I am very happy with it. Good job.

I think we should list the hotmail address of the CPA. We can appoint some people to answer the inquiries and membership emails we get there and delete them when answered. That way the inbox doesn't overflow and we get back to everyone in a timely manner.

I wouldn't recommmend listing any of our emails if this thing is going up on the every major Magic site on the web. We would be overflowed with emails even on the Dojo front page alone.

Damn, that is one sweet letter!

Yes, definately list the CPA hotmail address, and refer them to this BB. Create a forum on this BB called "New Members" where new people could put in bios, names, whatever. That way we could get this thing started in one place, the BB.

Let's get going!

Since we all have admins now anyone of us can put up the new forum. Let me know if you guys want me to do that.

We can have it say "New Members Click Here" and then under the description have "Please post name, email, bios" and whatever else we think of.

I'll be putting it up as soon as it is done. I want to get it perfect. Anyone who hasn't read this, please read it and get back to me by tonight. If all looks well, I'll get this sucker out tonight. Here's the Beta Draft. Basically it's the same but I changed the e-mail address. I'm of the opinion we shouldn't give out the Ubb address until they contact us to join. What do you guys think?

To Anyone who loves the Game of Magic:
My friends, I come before you with a proposition.

My name is Anthony James Scott and I am an ambassador from the Casual Players Alliance. This group was formed by individuals who,
while we may not agree on all issues, are tired of the apparent disregard WotC and the DCI seems to have for us. It is time our
voices were heard. It is time WotC stood up and took notice of us, the people who may not play on the pro tour. The bulk of the people who buy their product. The people who pay for their paychecks. In short, it is time to organize.

We are actively seeking members who feel the same way we do. We are not out to overthrow or destroy but to preserve this game we love and ensure it is around for a long time. I am asking anyone who reads this to join the Casual Players Alliance.

WotC does not seem to be listening to us. WotC does not seem to care about our opinions. Whether or not this is really the case, they do not seem to be hearing our voices.

The CPA is not a dictatorship. You are free to agree or disagree with me or any other
member at any time on any subject. You are not restricted in any way. The only difference is that you belong to something that may be able to get your opinions heard. If we get enough people, WotC will notice.

How many people do you know of that play magic? If a fraction of us rally together and speak with one voice, we'll stand a good
chance of getting someone's attention. We all need to be heard. Together we can accomplish that.

Again, The Casual Players Alliance is a purely democratic group. No one's opinion will go unrecognized and no one will have their voice stifled no matter how contrary to the majority their opinion may be.

Again, we need your help. We are looking for enough friends to rally behind to get WotC's attention.

So I extend an invitation to all of you: Whether you've played since Alpha or just bought your first deck of sixth edition.
Anyone, old or new to the game. Everyone. We may not always see eye to eye but we all have
something in common: We love this game and would like to be heard. It is time to try and make that a possibility.

If you have any questions, e-mail us at Casual_Players_Alliance@hotmail.com

Thank you for your time.

Yeah, don't tell too many people about the board yet. We should have them sign up by email first.

Another thing that you might want to do in the future is put up a web page with the members and their emails. Obviously when this thing gets big it will be too tedious to have them listed on the letter, but a link to the page just to show the general size of the organization might be nice.

Putting up a web site is a good idea. We should save that for when we get a bit bigger. It could be easily done too. I know that fortunecity.com, geocities.com, and dozens of others give out free pages. I know that a couple of us have web experience, including myself. Shouldn't be too hard.

Ok, hitting on a couple of things here:

Baron: Great letter! Just one thing (real minor), in 2 adjacent paragraphs, you open with "Again,". I like to use that word as emphasis, but it is kind of redundant. Offhand I can't think of any replacements, but if anyone does, shout it out!

I also agree w/ Baron, in that we shouldn't try to publicize this board, till we get a member inquiry. (On a side note, has anyone figured out how to delete specific threads/replies?)

And as for what nekrataal said about the website, I could definately do that with no problem. If you haven't noticed, this board is being served on my little "business" site. And I've made a bunch of other sites. I would be quite willing to make the site; or, hell, I could even do a collaboration. Whatever you guys want.

I'd love to help out on the site too, I like the idea of a collaboration.

By the way, if you haven't all seen my site, check it out: http://business.fortunecity.com/sorenson/279/

I'd be happy to post the CPA article there, even though I only get 15-30 hits a day.

Ok, should we do it? If we do, I don't wanna host it on geocities, tripod, fortunecity, or any other huge fwp (free webspace provider). There is a great fwp lister at http://www.freewebspace.net . I dunno, if its on there, but I like a place called cyber-active ( http://free.cyber-active.com ). And no, it isn't a porn site. :)

And nekrataal, 15-30 hits is quite respectible. that is about how many mine gets. if you haven't seen it, check it out at http://www.enter.net/~rmsullivan .

I decided to wait. I want to make sure we're ready for this.

I think the idea of a website is killer. I'd have done something like that but I have no idea how. I suck. :(

Let me know how it progresses. We'll need something like that if this thing really takes off.

One thing I can think of: Do you guys want to be listed for e-mails, too or should I just list the CPA address or what?

If so, I could put: If you have any questions, e-mail the Council of Casual Players at Casual_Players_Alliance@hotmail.com.

Let me know what you think. I want this to be the best damn letter possible.

Baron,
The letter is good. It puts our intentions to the front and includes everyone. Replace "Again" with "Once more". That should make the redundancy go away. I can't think of any thing else right now.

Excellent letter. I like the idea of emailing them the web address - it'll get distributed eventually, but we're still a new group and I don't want to get overwhelmed in the first week or so...
