Selesnya Loam, Now in Space [EDH]

Won another game with this deck. I really do like some of the new Edge of Eternities cards, but I have to consider this a failed experiment. The deck has primarily succeeded by exploiting a dearth of land destruction at most tables, so that Glacial Chasm protects it while it gradually builds up...

    Iron Suit Riot [EDH]

So much for worrying that this deck would be too strong. I managed to get my commander and Crystalline Crawler onto the field. I had a method to draw extra cards. They were mostly lands. I died to some broken combo after failing to find any kind of credible threat or answer.

    Halfdane's Utility Belt [EDH]

Tried this deck again on Wednesday night. Never saw the new cards, but it didn't matter. I managed to get three lands onto the battlefield and cast a single spell: Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist. Then one of my opponents cast Doomsday Excruciator and there went my library. Aren't the new cards fun?

    Goblin Lives Matter [EDH]

Well, I tried the updated version of the deck, but got manascrewed. Aether Vial gave me some initial help getting goblins onto the field, but it got blown up and I was stuck on three lands with a bunch of four-drops in my hand for too long. Oh well.

    Goblin Lives Matter [EDH]

Time for an update! -1 Dark-Dweller Oracle -1 Ember Hauler -1 Goblin Lookout -1 Goblin War Party -1 Goblin Wardriver -1 Mizzium Mortars +1 Brightstone Ritual +1 Fable of the Mirror-Breaker +1 General Kreat, the Boltbringer +1 Goblin War Strike +1 Hobgoblin Bandit Lord +1 Legion Warboss

    Halfdane's Utility Belt [EDH]

-1 Glasspool Mimic -1 Kappa Cannoneer -1 Wooly Razorback +1 Battlefield Improvisation +1 Forge Anew +1 The Ancient One I finally bought copies of some cards I was missing, which had originally been desired inclusions in this deck.

    Paint it Green [PreDH]

-1 White Scarab +1 Distorting Lens I'd originally wanted Distorting Lens in this deck as another way to turn creatures green, but didn't find a copy. Now that I have, it's going in the deck.

    Sharing Companion [EDH]

Played this deck for what has only been its second game. It managed to protect itself reasonably well and set up Shared Fate. One of my opponents was really salty about The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale, and that leads to a whole tangent about how WotC's clumsy "bracket" system just isn't working...

    Paint it Green [PreDH]

This deck put up more of a fight than expected against an opponent who was slaughtering the whole table with ease. I did eventually fall, but it was a good game and I'm impressed with how this deck held up. If I'd had more time, I might have managed to cause an upset.

    Phoenix Down [EDH]

Once again, this deck took a brutal beating. One of my opponents was swinging for the fences right away. I actually managed to stall him and save the table a couple of times with Kami of False Hope, but eventually ran out of ways to bring it back and took 90 damage or something.

    Halloween Pirate Party 2025 [EDH]

Well, I got a flat tire on Monday (for the second time in two months), so I didn't go to the LGS that hold Commander open play on Tuesdays. But I did get to play this deck on Wednesday. My pirates dished out damage to all three opponents and started to become outclassed. I set up All Hallow's...

    Halloween Pirate Party 2025 [EDH]

My Halloween deck themes have probably been hit-or-miss, but this one was a deliberate reference that now seems a bit awkward. To understand the reference, understand that my family, for reasons I still don't understand myself, had a planned pirate-themed party for Halloween of this year. Also...

    Magic Memories: Squandered Resources

Eventually, Al0ysius retired his ProsBloom deck. However, Squandered Resources kept coming back in his other decks, and it's a card I always associate with him. I didn't think to save those decklists, but there was some variety. At first, it was always the Squandered Resources + Natural Balance...

    Magic Memories: Squandered Resources

After initially getting into the Pokemon TCG, my friend Nick saw me playing Magic in junior high and started playing the game in 1999, around the release of Mercadian Masques. Nick used variations on "Aloysius the Hun" as callsigns online, and was once a member here at the CPA under the name...

    Magic Memories: Squandered Resources

I believe that the very first time I saw a Magic card, it was Teremko Griffin from Mirage, at some point in early 1997. I was visiting a small game store a mile and a half from my house, looking for figures for Warhammer Quest. Martin McKenna's art drew me in, but it was the layout of the cards...

    Iron Suit Riot [EDH]

Well, I piloted this deck against an extremely explosive Norman Osborn deck, but I was way outgunned. He copied Worst Fears on all three of his opponents. To deal with me, he made me use my own Inventors' Fair to find Krark-Clan Ironworks, then sacrificed my whole board to it.

Selesnya Loam, Now in Space [EDH]

So yeah, this pile is possibly kind of bad. But you know what's good? Icetill Explorer. Someone eventually picked it off with a direct damage effect, but by then, the card had generated so much value that I turned a losing game into a winning one.

    Phoenix Down [EDH]

OK, I finally won a game with an infinite combo using this deck. I had a long, pitched battle with this deck. Eventually, I drew enough cards to assemble Goblin Bombardment + Sun Titan + Fiend Hunter for the win.

    Paint it Green [PreDH]

Well, this deck somehow won another game! I had a slow start and tried to build a board presence, but Farewell set me back. I managed to get Leprechaun/Ward on the table, but it was immediately exiled by an Unidentified Hovership. So then I went scorched earth with Cyclone, and my two remaining...

    Princess Lucrezia's Bouncy Castle [EDH]

I still haven't taken this deck apart? Wow, this year went off the rails for my EDH gameplay. Anywway, this deck "won" another game. Well, really I was kind of stuck and was the weakest deck at the table for a while, but I managed to Mana Drain an eight-drop spell and cast Tidespout Tyrant, then...
