Mission Statement
To the Entire Magic-Playing World:

Welcome to the Casual Players Alliance. This group was founded July 29, 1999 by individuals who, while we may not have agreed on everything, were looking for a place to express our opinions as casual players in an organized manner with the purpose of bringing our views to the attention of Wizards of the Coast. Since then, The Casual Players Alliance has evolved and grown more than any of us could have dreamed.

The CPA website is a haven for the casual player. Here you will find the bulk of our articles and the content of our message board deal almost entirely with the different aspects of casual play. You'll find the occasional pro player onboard but for the most part you can expect great commentary from other casual players like yourself and have a lot of fun in the process.

The Casual Players Alliance has not abandoned the principles on which it was founded, however. We are still working to make sure that our opinions as casual players are known. If you're upset about something Magic-related or want to compliment WotC on a job well done, this is the place to bring it up. We are not out to overthrow or destroy but to preserve this game we love and ensure it is around for a long time.

The CPA is not a dictatorship. You are free to agree or disagree with anyone at any time on any subject. Your opinions are not restricted in any way; we just ask that you mind your manners. No one's opinion will go unrecognized and no one will have their voice stifled due to their opinions, no matter how contrary to the majority their opinion may be. By joining the CPA, not only will you be able to communicate with other casual players but you will belong to a group that can get your opinions heard. WotC does listen.

There is so much we can offer each other as casual players. This organization's main objective is to keep the fun in Magic mostly by having a lot of fun ourselves. If you enjoy Magic and want a break from endless tourney reports and fifteen different variations on the same deck, this is the place for you. The Casual Players Alliance is offers a friendly alternative to sites full of .NET decks and flames. We are united in our love for this game.

So, on behalf of the CPA, I extend an invitation to every magic player: Whether you've played since Alpha or just bought your first pack of cards. Anyone, old or new to the game. Everyone. We may not always see eye to eye but we have something in common: We all love Magic: the Gathering and want to enjoy playing for a long, long time.

The Casual Players Alliance welcomes you.

Thank you for your time.

I remain
Anthony Scott (Baron Sengir)
Founding Member, Casual Players Alliance
